Artist Statement: Throughout the course of photography class, I have learned to express myself as an artists with the techniques we have learned such as different shutter speeds and apertures. With these skills, I can portray objects in the mood I desire, which I couldn't do before this class. As I continue forward with the class, I hope to become a better photographer by improving my knowledge by exploring new settings on my camera as well as going to new places with character to take my images. Composition is the way objects are positioned within an image. In my artwork, I try to keep an object simple and I try not to overwhelm the viewer with things to look at. I enjoy rule of thirds the most because it can make an everyday object look awesome. My favorite assignment so far was the "Alphabet Soup" photoshoot because it made me see my world a little differently. As I mature as an artist, I am starting to see the dots of my artwork connecting a little bit. Almost all of my favorite images focus on one object and the background is simple. In my opinion, my most successful photoshoot is probably "Rules of Composition" because I really got to explore different ways of taking images for the first time, and they turned out pretty nice. This year, I have struggles most with a slow shutter speed because most of my images ended up being really blurry. I still intend to learn more ways to use my camera as well as improving my images by making them my own.
